Laying the Groundwork: What's Happening Behind the Scenes

If you've stopped by the library lately, it might look like business as usual on the surface--but behind the scenes, progress is quietly moving right along! We are in the schematic design phase- the essential, behind-the-scenes stage where our big ideas are being translated into technical reality.
What We're Working on Right Now
Teaming up with experts: We are working closely with our architects and engineers to map out every square foot of the future space.
Building evaluations: Engineers are analyzing our current structure from top to bottom--checking structural integrity, plumbing, electrical capacity, and HVAC systems.
Tying old to new: Planning to determine how to seamlessly connect our existing building with the new design elements so everything functions as one cohesive facility.
This isn't the most glamorous part of the building project, but it's crucial. Spending time getting the structural groundwork right today ensures our future space is safe, accessible, budget-friendly, and built to serve our community for decades to come.
What's next?
Once our civil engineers and architects wrap up these technical evaluations, we'll be finalizing the official design plans. Once the designs are finished, we'll make plans to share a sneak peek of the new layout. (More on that in a future post!)
Thank you for your patience and support as we do the quiet, necessary work to build a better library for everyone!
