A: We anticipate opening the 101 N. Main Street location in late winter or early spring 2027. We are moving in phases—administrative offices move first this fall, followed by main library circulation, programming, and genealogy services in late winter or early spring.

Q: Will there be a gap where library services are completely closed?

A: Our intention is that services will be uninterrupted during the transition in late winter or early spring 2027.

Location & Accessibility

Q: Where exactly is the temporary storefront located?

A: It’s located right in the center of town at 101 N. Main Street. Many locals will remember it as the old City Police building or the Crowder Insurance building.

Q: Why this specific building?

A: Staying in central Sullivan was essential for accessibility. The 101 N. Main Street property offered the perfect combination of central location, functional layout, and a strong collaborative partner in the City of Sullivan.

Q: Will all library services and collections be available at Main Street?

A: The storefront will house our core circulation services, popular books and other circulating materials, and administrative operations. While we won't have the full physical footprint of our main building, patrons will be able to request any item from our catalog, and branch services will continue operating at full capacity.

Q: What about parking and accessibility at 101 N. Main Street?

A: The downtown location will offer convenient street parking and nearby public options, ensuring easy, quick access for drop-offs, pickups, and browsing.

Returns & Services During the Interim

Q: Where should patrons drop off returned books during the move transition?

A: Book drops at the main building will remain active until the temporary site opens late winter or early spring 2027. Once operational, returns will be accepted directly at 101 N. Main Street or at any of our branch locations.

Length of Construction

Q: How long will we be in the temporary storefront?

A: We will occupy the Main Street location throughout the construction phase of our permanent facility. We’ll provide regular timeline updates as building milestones are reached. Initial estimates are that once begun, construction will take 12-14 months.
